Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman John Billingsley issued the following statement regarding the passing of Former New Mexico Governor David Cargo:
"The officers and staff at the Republican Party of New Mexico join me in expressing our condolences to the family of Governor David Cargo. All who had the pleasure of working with or knowing Governor Cargo know that his legacy of service will live on in the state of New Mexico.
"We are grateful for the years of service he gave and for his dedication to making our state a better place to live. His leadership left its mark on our state, and we know that he was respected by many across New Mexico.”

Governor Cargo served as a Republican Governor of New Mexico from 1967-1970.
