7 DAYS AND COUNTING PETE DINELLI STILL MUM ON WHETHER HE BROKE LAW, DELETED CITY E-MAILS

ALBUQUERQUE - One week ago today, the Republican Party of New Mexico requested the Attorney General’s office to investigate whether mayoral candidate Pete Dinelli broke the law and deleted three years of city e-mails. Many city e-mails are considered public records, and destroying public records is a fourth degree felony.

"Pete Dinelli was still employed with the city from 2006 to 2009, yet you would never guess it ,because there are no e-mail records during that time," said RPNM Spokeswoman Jamie Dickerman. "Pete Dinelli has a lot of explaining to do. We call on him to address this very important issue."

In response to a public records request, the Albuquerque City Clerk stated that they have no emails to or from Pete Dinelli's email account after August of 2006, even though Dinelli was terminated in 2009.

The issue is worsened by the fact that Pete Dinelli complained to the press about the fact that Mayor Berry was properly using his private emails to discuss political campaign efforts. Dinelli wrongly claimed that these campaign emails should have been on the city email server.
